   Leslie R. Surette, 88, of Saugus, died August 11, 2008, at Kindred Hospital North Shore in Peabody. He was the husband of the late M. Louise (Lavoine) Surette.
 
Born and raised in Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late Leander and Emily (Surette) Surette.
 
Mr. Surette had been a resident of Saugus since 1958, working at the B&M Railroad as a railroad conductor for many years.
 
He served in World War II as a member of the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the DeFranzo VFW Post 2346, Saugus.
 
Mr. Surette is survived by two sons, Charles Surette and his wife, Kathleen Moore, of Thornton, N.H., and Paul Surette and his wife, Mary Ann, of Shelburne, N.H.; one daughter, Donna LeBlanc and her husband, Philip, of Saugus; one daughter-in-law, Lisa Surette of Wilmington; two sisters, Jean Samuelson of Saugus and Doris Cangiamila of Florida; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
 
He was predeceased by his son, Stephen Surette.
 
A funeral service will be held Friday, August 15, at 10 a.m. in Bisbee-Porcella Funeral Home, 549 Lincoln Ave., Saugus. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Thursday, August 14, 4-8 p.m. Interment will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
 
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the National Navy UDT-Seal Museum, 3300 North A1A, No. Hutchinson Island, Ft. Pierce, FL 34949.
