   Ralph V. LoPilato, 80, died unexpectedly on Tuesday morning at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center Hospital in Burlington following a long illness.

Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Angelo Michael and Catherine (Muldoon) LoPilato. He lived in Lynn growing up, and graduated from Lynn Classical High School. He went on to Salem State College where he graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Education, and received his Masters in Education (M.Ed) from Boston University.

Mr. LoPilato applied his education and professional talents as a Physical Science Teacher at Masconomet Regional High School in Topsfield for 32 years before retiring in June 1988. He also was a Head Teller with the Vinnin Square branch of Essex Bank until retiring in 1994. He served a patriotic duty with service in the Korean War, serving in the United States Navy.

Ralph enjoyed a gift of a wonderful friendliness towards people and made friends easily. He was a volunteer Usher at North Shore Music Theater, he participated in local theater groups, especially the Magic Lantern Playhouse, and was a lifelong Red Sox and general sports enthusiast.

He is survived by: a son and daughter-in-law, Christopher & Carole LoPilato of Alpharetta, GA; three daughters and sons-in-law, Joanne & David Hill of Westford, Karen & Bill Laverty of Tyngsboro, and Linda & Mark Negip of Danvers; four grandchildren, Michelle Negip of Danvers, and Alex, Daniel & Rachel LoPilato all of Alpharetta, GA, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Vincent LoPilato.

A visitation will be held on Thursday from 5 to 8 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Friday at 9 AM from the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in St. Richard’s Church, Forest St., Danvers.

Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
