Rita J. Castle, 85, died July 27, 2008 following a long illness at her Saugus home, only three days following the death of her husband. William B. Castle died at their Saugus home following a long illness on Thursday, July 24. Mrs. Castle was born and raised in Revere and lived in Revere until moving to Saugus in 1957.
Aside from being a dedicated homemaker, Mrs. Castle worked for over 37 years at the Wonderland Dog Track, Revere, in the Concession Food Court. She worked until age 80 in 2003.
She was a devoted homemaker, mother, sister, aunt and friend, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is the mother of Blaine W. Castle of Saugus, and Kenneth J. Castle and his wife Laurie of Stratham, NH. She is the sister of Lena Raizen of Peabody and the late Lucy G. LaQuaglia and Nicholas M. Villani. She is the grandmother of Adam Castle and his wife Melissa of Concord, NH, Blaine Castle and his wife Lucia of Saugus, Deana Covino and her husband Anthony of Peabody, Audra Romani and her fiancé Scott Spindler of Stoneham, Kelly Paspesa and her husband Steven and Alison Gavin all of Manchester-by-the-Sea.
She is also lovingly survived by her great-grandchildren, Amanda, Krista, Maia, Jack and Ella Castle, Mia and Maci Covino, Anthony Romani and Morgan Laspesa. She is the mother-in-law of Fredda Castle of Stoneham and the sister-in-law of Grace Villani of Revere. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, August 1st from 6-9 p.m. in the Vertuccio Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte 107), Revere. A funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Saturday, August 2nd at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Revere at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Puritan Lawn Cemetery, West Peabody. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923.
