Shirley E. Cole, a retired secretary for the American Mutual Insurance Co. in Wakefield, died on Tuesday, July 29, at the Colonial Nursing Home in Weymouth following a lengthy illness. She was 82 years of age. Born in Rutland, MA, she was raised and educated in Wakefield where she had lived most of her life. She attended Wakefield Public Schools and was a 1943 graduate of Wakefield High School. She had also attended Northeastern Univ. Miss Cole was active in the Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Wakefield and the Harmony Order Eastern Star where she served as Worhty Matron. She had also served as Deputy Grand Mason.
Beloved sister of Janet Maher of Weymouth. Loving aunt of Stephen Maher of Weymouth and Pamela Maher-Lomeli of Santa Clara, CA. She was the daughter of the late Walter E. and Lila (Shippee) Cole.
A Funeral Service will be held in the McDonald Funeral Home, South Weymouth, at 809 Main St. (Rte. 18 opp. South Shore Hospital) Thursday morning at 10:00. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment to follow in the Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody. Retired secretary American Mutual Insurance Co., Wakefield.
