   Thomas Stephen Connolly, 79, of Peabody and formerly of Salem, died Monday afternoon at the Radius Healthcare Center in Danvers, surrounded by his loving family. He was the loving and devoted husband of Virginia (Gallagher) Connolly with whom he shared over 54 years of marriage.

Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Michael and Catherine (Kennedy) Connolly. He attended Salem Public Schools and graduated from Salem High School in 1946.

He was first employed with the John Flynn and Sons Company, and later he worked for the city of Peabody School Department as a custodian, retiring in 1988.

Thomas was an active member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Division 18 in Salem for many years. He enjoyed playing baseball for the Alpines in Salem and also he enjoyed playing golf when he had free time.

Besides his loving wife, he is survived by his three children, Susan Middleton of Wilmington, Kathryn Knowles of Seabrook, NH and Michael and his wife Crissy Connolly of North Waterboro, ME. Tom had eight loving grandchildren who he enjoyed spending time with, Jaime, Derek, Kyle, Devin, Dana, Hannah, Brielle, and Harrison. He is also survived by a brother, John J. Connolly of Dallas, Texas and Mary Gizitsky of Long Beach, CA. He was the brother of the late James and Michael Connolly.

His funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St, Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Church, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
