Puritan Lawn Hosted 28th Annual Candlelight Service & Raised $600 For Haven From Hunger

December 8, 2016

Puritan Lawn Memorial Park held its 28th annual Holiday Candlelight Service on Sunday, December 4th, 2016.    The Masconomet Choir, directed by Brian OCock, performed popular holiday selections throughout the service, while members of the Puritan Lawn community recited short readings.  Third generation family member of Puritan Lawn,  Jim Glynn moderated the service while Pastor Tom Coots presented the invocation and benediction.

This year, over $600 was raised for Haven from Hunger in Peabody. This organization provides food pantry services and meals to families that are struggling to make ends meet. If you are interested in supporting Haven From Hunger, Puritan Lawn is collecting monetary donations until December 23rd.

Two children’s and five adult raffles were awarded that night. Lisa D’Ambrosio of Saugus and Judy Szczerbinksi of Peabody each won $100 restaurant gift cards. Molly Buonopane of Peabody, Connie Perry of Quincy and Anita Bedrosian of Lynnfield each won floral arrangements. The children’s prizes included $25 gift cards to Toys R Us.

The Candlelight Service is an annual community event offered as an opportunity for families to celebrate the season and pay respects to the memory of their loved ones, whether they are buried at Puritan Lawn or elsewhere.

The next event at the park will be the annual Memorial Weekend Service on Sunday, May28th at 11 a.m. This service is in honor of all veterans, past and present.
