Puritan Lawn to Honor Veteran's at Annual Memorial Weekend Service on Sunday, May 28th at 11 a.m.

Puritan Lawn Memorial Park will be hosting its annual Memorial Weekend service on Sunday, May 28th at 11 a.m. at the Pierce Boulevard Flag Circle to honor all veterans, past and present. The public is invited to attend. There will be many special guests and events.


  • Peabody Mayor Edward A. Bettencourt, Jr. will be speaking and announcing Puritan Lawn’s student essay contest winners.

  • Captain Steve Castinetti, who served in the U.S. Navy for 40 years and is the Commander of the Saugus Veterans Council, will also be speaking at the service about his military experience.

  • Members of the Lynn English Junior ROTC, the Second Corps of Cadets Veterans Association, and the Lynnfield Knights of Columbus will be in attendance.

  • Members of North Shore Corvettes will be on hand displaying their vehicles.

  • Our veterans will be honored throughout the weekend with the annual Boulevard of Flags display that includes 50 U.S. casket flags donated by family members to be proudly flown along Pierce Boulevard.

  • Patriotic readings will be provided by members of the Puritan Lawn community, while Pastor Tom Coots will serve as clergy.

  • Taps will be sounded by U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary members John Collins and Kim Shaw.


  • Drawings will be held for raffle prizes. All raffle proceeds will go to NEADS: National Education for Assistance Dog Service, which provides service dogs to veterans coping with physical limitations, hearing loss and post-traumatic stress.


Smaller U.S. flags and flower arrangements for placement on individual graves are currently available and will continue to be offered throughout Memorial Day weekend. The proceeds from the sale of flags will also go to support NEADS.


Extended visiting hours will be observed throughout the weekend. Gates will be open to vehicular traffic from 7:30 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and our office staff will be available from 8:00 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. An information booth will be placed at the Veterans Circle with Puritan Lawn staff members on hand to assist visitors in locating individual gravesites.
