Puritan Lawn Announces Recipients of 2017 Scholarship Awards

June 6, 2017

Three local students have been awarded scholarships from the Puritan Lawn Educational Foundation. The recipients are Allia Parianos, who graduated from Danvers High School, Sarena Santos, who is currently attending UMass Amherst and Rachel Calnan from Lynn English High School. Allia is looking to pursue her education at Salem State University in the fall and Rachel will be attending the University of New Hampshire. A total of $12,000 was awarded to the students.

Candidates that apply to the program include students who may not have achieved their full academic potential due to circumstances beyond their control. These students often have to take on a more adult role and therefore may not have achieved their full academic potential. A few examples include students who need to work to help contribute to their family’s finances, those taking care of an ill parent or sibling, or not having adequate housing. Our recipients are determined to beat the odds and obtain their goal of pursuing secondary education and we are determined to assist them.
