Puritan Lawn Hosted 29th Annual Candlelight Service

December 17, 2017

On Sunday, December 3rd, Puritan Lawn Memorial Park hosted its 29th annual Candlelight service featuring Peabody Mayor Edward Bettencourt, Jr. & the Masconomet Chamber Choir and Chorale. The Mayor spoke of the city of Peabody as a community and provided his thoughts on the holiday season during a time of loss. Directed by Brian OCock, the Masconomet Choir performed popular holiday selections throughout the service, while select readings were recited by members of the Puritan Lawn community. Family service member, Brad Harrison led the service, while Reverend Joe Amico presented the invocation & benediction. The winners of this year's raffle are Kristen Plumer of Melrose, Alicia Dwyer of Lynnfield and Liz Coviello of Saugus, who each won floral arrangements to be placed in 2018. Our winners for the Jimmy's Steakhouse gift cards are Alahna Curtis of Somerville & Cindy Maes of Lynn.

Since October, Puritan Lawn has been collecting donations from the Citizens Inn of Peabody from Puritan Lawn families. To date, $500 in donations have been received which Puritan Lawn will match, bringing the total to $1,000. This organization provides meals and transitional housing to local families in need. If you are interested in making a donation, checks can be sent to Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, 185 Lake St., Peabody, MA 01960.

The Candlelight Service is an annual community event offered as an opportunity for families to celebrate the season and pay respects to the memory of their loved ones. On May 27, 2018 at 11 a.m., Puritan Lawn Memorial Park will host its annual Memorial Weekend Service. The public is invited to pay tribute all the men and women who have served our country, past and present.
